Korhani Home is always one of the most exciting and highly anticipated shows of Toronto Fashion Week. Bringing home style to the runway, Korhani designs their collection entirely of materials found around the house. This year’s collection was so perfectly executed that it was almost impossible to believe that the collection was made of carpet.
Models took to the runway wearing dark, haunting robes over carpet-made dresses that were very Nightmare Before Christmas-esque. Topped with wigs that rivaled some of Lady Gaga’s most elaborate creations, models stormed the runway to a full moon backdrop that completed the Tim Burton mood. Energy picked up during the second part of the show, where models sported ’30s inspired outfits ranging from high-waisted pants to fur, feather, and jewel embossed dresses. Finally, the disco era closed the show with models wearing bright patterned and print dresses.
Absent from this year’s show, however, were any live animals, which may not have been a bad thing considering the runway clean up that was needed following last year’s show.
I suppose parrots get stage fright, too.
